Intro to channel Idents

Unit 32 LO1, P1, M1, D1,

Within the TV industry there is a high demand for people who understand a channels brand and how to connect to their target audience.

1. Using the internet as a research tool, look at a range of TV idents and think about ‘What do they have in common?’ (Check out this website http://www.theidentgallery.com). From your research, write a short description of what a channel idents is and give at least three physical characteristics?

2. Watch this short documentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42WejuBMEgY&feature=player_embedded Comprehensively explain the purposes of channel idents. Include three detailed examples of channel idents which illustrate your points.
