This is the best Channel Ident Ever

You will need to carefully analyse your teams ident and present your reasons to the opposition as to why your ident is the best one. Then you need to eye up the oppositions idents and say why your ident is better.

When you are constructing your argument you need to consider the following points:

How does your ident reflect the values/brand of channel? (Give specific examples)
How does the ident grab the viewers attention and prevent the viewer from turning over? (Give specific examples)
Explain who the target audience is for your channel? (Age, race, gender, ethnicity, disability, social and economic group, sex orientation etc)
How does this advert appeal to the channel's target audience? (Give specific examples)

Summarise your main points and think of a fantastic closing statement.

Now you need to prepare the case against the opposition. Consider the above questions in relation to the oppositions ident. How can you justify that your ident is better. Remember that you have to give specific examples.

You will have 2 minutes to put your case forward that, 'This ident is the best ident ever!'.

Channel Ident 32.2

Currently the Television market is rapidly expanding, and the corporate identity of each channel has become more and more important. With viewers being offered such a wide choice of channels to watch, it has become increasing important that the look and tone of the channel is instantly recognisable to their target TV audience.

1. Analyse two TV idents in detail (one must be E4 and the other can be of your choosing) and explain how the ident reflects the tone and feel or the channels brand.

2. Why is it important that TV idents are distinctive from each other?

3. What can a ‘good’ TV ident do, for the channel?

4. When you are creating an ident for use on Television what things do you need to be mindful to avoid. List 3 things:

Within the TV industry there is a high demand for people who understand a channels brand and how to connect to their target audience.

1. Using the internet as a research tool, look at a range of TV idents and think about ‘What do they have in common?’ (Check out this website http://www.theidentgallery.com). From your research, write a short description of what a channel idents is and give at least three physical characteristics?
