Fine Tuning Ideas

Today is all about generating and fine tuning your ideas, for your stop-motion animation, E4 channel idents. To make sure you are producing the best idea, work through the following:
  1. Produce mind maps of at least 3 ideas which might answer the brief you have been given.
    Select your best idea.
  2. If relevent produce a series of character sketches, which show how the main characters look from each side.
  3. If relevent produce a mood board which illustrates, the 'feel' or 'mood' of the ident that you are going to produce.
  4. Write a proposal (see post below called, 'Writing a proposal for your chanel ident')

Produce a storyboard for the animation (the storyboard must also show evidence that you have considered movement, frames per second, soundtrack, sound effect and script if appropriate).
If relevent produce drawings of the set that you intend to make.
All pre production work, needs to be evidensed on your blog, so scan, photograph, post or upload, your pre production work.

*If you are unsure about what pre production material you need to produce, then please discuss your idea with me and I can suggest the most relevent work for your project. Each idea will be different but you do need to produce a substantial amount of material.

Hello, today you will be giving your presentations on Walt Disney to the rest of the group. If you are not giving your presentation you will be writing notes ready to comment on the presenters blog. Feedback is very important, it helps you improve on your weaker areas and build upon your strengths.

Before your presentation, you need to have done the following:

  1. Make sure you have added pathways to your presentation.
  2. Embed your prezi presentation to your blog.
  3. Make sure you have 'allowed comments' on your blog settings tab.

Experiment 1: Chroma Keying Background in I Stop Motion

We have some fantastic new software to create our stop motion animations on. It has some great new features. I would like you to experiment with the new software try the chroma keying feature as demonstrated above.

Tilt Shift Function on New Stop Motion Software

Still Moving from mustardcuffins on Vimeo.

This video makes brilliant use of the tilt shift effect. The new software that we have for stop motion can do a similar effect. If you feel inspired you could achieve something similar. Why not give it a try!

Tilt Shift is a popular photographic illusion that manipulates the depth of field on long-shots in a manner to fool the brain into thinking it is looking at miniature-scale models.

So you have viewed the video's, now answer these questions:
  1. What kind of effect does the 'tilt shift effect' create?
  2. What type of camera angles best suite the 'Tilt Shift effect'?
  3. If you were to use the 'tilt shift' effect around college, list 3 filming locations which you think would be effective.
HERE'S HOW TO DO IT

Simple Stop Motion

I thought there was quite interesting use of stop motion animation in a recent edition of Channel 4's 'Will My Crash Diet Kill Me.' You might like to check it out. Unfortunately you will have to watch a few ad's first.
